I may have mentioned this before … I really love blue and white together … so it would only make sense to white and denim a part of my summer wardrobe on the regular. While that was the classic combo of royal blue, navies and white, white also looks super summery with denim or chambray! Duh. It doesn’t get more Hamptons than that j.crew-esque combo. I decided to outfit repeat from the day before — I had worn this combo to work for a few hours and gotten so many compliments — it seemed necessary to photograph. I also am determined to fulfill my New Year’s Resolution to “travel more” this year, even if it’s just here in New England, since my trip to the Dominican Republic put a little bit of a dent in my pocket … and I need to buy a new car soon.
So I went exploring. Apparently, here in Western Mass, there are a bunch of fabulous spots I’ve never been to. And I’ve basically lived here most of my 27 years. Case in point: Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts. It’s free, it’s beautiful and the little downtown area is filled with cute shops and super-sweet residents who will say hello to you when you pass them in the street. Based on the recent events in Orlando, and around the world, we could all use a little more of that simple kind of kindness in our lives. The bridge is located right alongside a drivable bridge into town, and just a few minutes off the historic Mohawk Trail.
There are plenty of other local sites that I plan on checking out soon too … like the glacial craters and Poet’s Seat Tower, which are nearby and also cost nothing but your time a little bit of gas to get to. I took a pit stop at Mo’s Fudge Factor to taste-test the local ice cream, which comes from Hadley Creamery (and is delicious), but what I really should’ve gotten was the fudge, which looked incredible. Next time for sure! I also stopped into A Heart for Art, where I had a great chat with the ladies who run the shop and I snagged a really cool, reusable wine tote that you freeze! It’s like an ice pack to carry your wine in. Genius.
Where is your favorite spot to get away for a day?
