Essence of Style: Making Old New Again

Nothing I’m wearing in this post is new. REPEAT: NOTHING I’M WEARING IN THIS POST IS LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD!

I’m frequently looking through my closet(s) with the age old problem of, “I have nothing to wear,” but as noted–I have more than one closet–and also garment racks full of the clothes that don’t fit in them, so the truth is: I have plenty to wear. Likely, so do you!

Sometimes it’s hard to find inspiration in the things that we’ve had forever and often we don’t realize that some of the trends that are popular now were popular just a few years ago too. Fall and winter are great times to experiment with layering and colors because the weather is so unpredictable.

I mixed an elephant necklace I bought in high school with an appliquéd shirt I’ve had since my freshman year of college, corduroy pants I’ve had for a couple of years, plus a paisley-printed 70’s inspired sweater and riding boots I’ve had since this time last year, in a way that I’ve never worn them before…and I just so happened to match my backdrop…a place I’ve been planning to photograph an outfit post for weeks!
