A Few of My Favorite Things

It wouldn’t be Monday without a few of my favorite things! Today, I’m totally psyched that I slept through my alarm (necessary) and missed class, only to wake up and find out that two out of three were canceled anyway–huge relief! I wouldn’t have driven to campus for one class anyway. It was a looooooong weekend and with all of our guests, Thursday wasn’t really a day off. I also worked at my other job Friday through Sunday, so my weekend last week was really just Monday. Sigh.

Anyway, it’s almost December. How did that even happen?! I feel like it was just New Year’s Eve 2014 a few days ago.

I’m really grateful that as I’ve become more committed to updating this site and sharing my life and interests with you, that you’ve committed to reading them. Please share your ideas with me for posts–comment here or on Facebook, Twitter, etc. shoot me an email–whatever! If you’re a company trying to get your product out there for the holidays, pitch it to me–and throw a strike! I’d love to work together.

I’m getting really excited to be able to share holiday gift guides, recipes, makeup tutorials, party ideas and so much more with you. December is going to be a super fun month on Essence of Erika!

In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite things, this week:

I made this pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving, and I don't want to brag, but the leftovers are as close to heaven as I think I'm getting.

Each Thanksgiving we take a “cousins” picture with our growing family of “next-gens” including our significant others. This year, we repurposed my mantel’s “Thankful” banner.
